The Job consisted of providing and installing 2No. Gas 210 Pro LTHW Condensing Boilers, along with 2No. new 300L Megaflo Eco Hot Water Cylinders and a 150mm Low Loss Header in order to provide both heating and hot water to Digby House and just Heating to the Dining Block.

Before any strip out works commenced and the existing boilers removed, we installed 2No. Hot Water Cylinders in the Dining Block Kitchen to provide Digby House with Hot Water via the temporary mains installed on the roof. As well as this, our containerised temporary boiler house was used to provided Heating. Once the temporary means of heating and hot water were up and running, all 4No. existing Gas Fired Boilers and all existing plant and materials were isolated, decommissioned, removed and safely disposed of by IES LTD.

The 2No. new Gas 210 Boilers were installed complete with flue connections into a 250mm dia common header and a flexible flue liner with a termination piece at the top of the chimney, all of which has been weather sealed.

2No. New Magna 1 50-120F Shunt Pumps have been installed on each boiler return from the 80mm Reverse Return Header. 2No. Heating Pump sets have been installed, comprising of 2No. Magna 3 40-120F pumps for Digby House and 2No. Magna 1 40-120F for Dining Block. As well as this 2No. Magna 1 40-100F Pumps have been installed on the Primary Hot Water Service to the Cylinders with a Grundfos UPS25-55N Secondary Return Pump.

2No. 50mm underground mains have been installed to provide the Dining Hall with LTHW for 10No. newly installed Fan Convectors.

To supply hot water in the Dining Hall, 2No. Heatrae Sadia Multipoint 15 & 1 No. Heatrae Sadia Multipoint 10 Water heaters have been installed.

The existing gas layout has been altered to accommodate the new boilers which have been installed. A new 80mm HC-QA100 Turbine Gas Meter has been installed after the existing Gas 2 Port Valve and Isolation valve along with 2No. 65mm Branches serving the boilers from the Gas Header.

A new automatic controls installation has been installed to control and monitor the new gas fired plant and DHWS storage cylinders. These works have been undertaken by BCS LTD. All electrical works have been undertaken by Lowe Electrical LTD.

Upon completion of the works, Sterilizing Services carried out treatment works that consisted of flushing out the existing system, chemical cleaning of the new installation and the introduction of a corrosion inhibitor. The DHWS were flushed out as per the specification.

These works were completed within the specified time frame and also on budget.

Brookfield House

The works comprised of the installation of 2No. High efficiency Remeha Gas 220 Pro Boilers. These provided CT & VT Heating for both Brookfield House and the Post Graduate Training Centre (PGTC). Prior to installation, the Boilers and associated pipework were pre-fabricated in our workshop, to allow for a safe & effective installation whilst on site. New Grundfos system pumps were installed to circulate Heating & Hot Water around Brookfield House & PGTC.

A new gas and water main has been installed from Brookfield basement to serve new gas and water within the PGTC boiler house. The gas main was run in MDPE, rising in Heavy Grade Steel to the Plantroom; both the gas and water services have been installed with new meters. A new flue system has been installed from the gas fired plant, rising through the roof of the plantroom and terminating 3 metres above. All new installed plant & equipment have been incorporated within the existing Building Management Controls System to allow for Efficient & Cost effective day to day operating.

Ardagh Group – Rugby

Works:
Arthur Pollard LTD were employed by Ardagh Group – Rugby, to design & install a system to provide LTHW to the existing can washing plant.

The works comprised of the install of 2No. Bosch Unimat UT-L hot water boilers along with a pre-fabricated 250mm Low Loss Header & Plate Heate Exchanger. The main plant room rig was pre-fabricated within out workshop which contained the Low Loss Header, Plate Heat Exchanger and associated Pipe & Fittings. This rig was then transported and positioned alongside the boilers. As well as this, pipework between the boilers and the plant room rig was all pre-fabricated, thus minimising the time spent on site leading to a safer and more effective time spent on site.

The existing gas main was extended to serve the 2No. new boilers.

New flue systems were installed from the Gas Fired Plant which rise over 10m within the plant room and terminate 1m above the roof.

These works were completed within the specified time frame and also on budget.

Leuven Football Club Oil Fired Plant – Belgium

These works comprised of transforming an existing shipping container into a Plant Room to provide under pitch heating to Leuven Football Club training ground.

The container was boarded out internally with marine ply and painted white, whilst the external was painted dark green. We installed 1No. Byworth FM1500 Boiler with a Nu-Way oil burner to provide LTHW which circulates through the GEA Ecoflex Plate Heat Exchanger. A Grundfos TPED 100-250/2 Pitch Pump set then pumps the water through MDPE pipework underneath the pitch to prevent the pitch from freezing up.

All plant and equipment was incorporated into a newly installed controls system within the Container to make for easy and efficient day to day operating.

QMC Pump House – UV Filters

The project involved the replacement of the existing raw & soft water pipework and pump sets within the main pump house at the Queens Medical Centre including power and control wiring, thermal insulation and chlorination and bacterial samples/testing.
Further to this new ultra violet filters have been installed into the raw water supply.

Henry Wellcome Building – University of Leicester

This Project comprised of the installation of Five Chillers and the associated CHW pipework throughout the Henry Wellcome Building.
Three of the chillers have been installed to provide CHW to the Fan Coil Units within the ceiling space in the building, these also run off newly installed LTHW pipework to provide Heating & Cooling.
One of the chillers provides Chilled Water to the cluster racks, used to cool down the computers within. This pipework has been installed with leak detection and solenoid valves to further protect the contents within.
The final chiller provides Chilled Water to the microscope connection box. This will be used whilst the newly installed £4,000,000 microscope is operational.
